Venus Sign Calculator
A Venus sign calculator finds the zodiac sign Venus occupied at the time and place of your birth, which is distinct from where Venus is moving in the sky today. Your free result highlights your natal Venus placement, gives a clear explanation, and shows your full available birth chart and planetary table without registration.

What you need to enter and what you receive for free
To calculate your natal Venus, enter your birth date, your birth city, and your birth time if you know it. You cannot calculate a Venus placement from your name or your Sun sign alone, because Venus moves through the zodiac on its own orbit.
Immediately after you submit the form, your free result displays your natal Venus sign and a concise explanation before the full chart wheel and table, with Venus visually highlighted in context. If you notice a mistake in your birth date, time, or city, you can edit your details directly from the result screen and recalculate. Guest results are stored on our server for 7 days, open only from your original browser, and do not generate public share links. Creating a free account is only needed if you want to save your chart beyond the 7-day guest window.
Calculation method, unknown birth time, and input checks
Astrolivo calculates planetary positions using the JPL DE440s ephemeris via Skyfield in a tropical, geocentric coordinate system. Your local birth time and location are converted to Universal Time using historical time zone and daylight saving rules for your birth city. If a recorded birth time falls inside an ambiguous or skipped daylight saving transition, the form prompts you to clarify the time rather than guessing.
When you provide an accurate birth time and a latitude supported by the Placidus house system, your full chart also calculates the Ascendant, Midheaven, twelve houses, exact degrees, and the five major aspects (using a 6° orb). Above about 66° latitude, where Placidus houses are undefined, the calculator shows the houses in the Whole Sign system and labels them clearly.
If you do not know your birth time, select the unknown-time option. The calculator evaluates the full local calendar day to check whether Venus stayed in a single sign or crossed a sign boundary during those 24 hours, uses 12:00 p.m. local time as a marked reference assumption, and hides the Ascendant, Midheaven, houses, exact degrees, and aspects so uncertain details are never presented as fixed facts. For example, in a hypothetical birth on a day when Venus moved from Taurus into Gemini in the evening, a noon reference point alone cannot guarantee which sign was active at your actual birth hour; the result shows the boundary-day uncertainty clearly.
What Venus represents in astrology
In the astrological tradition, Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus and Libra and is exalted in Pisces. Astrologers associate Venus with harmony, beauty, refinement, affection, love, and the urge to sympathize and unite with others, as well as pleasure, comfort, ease, the arts, romantic relations, and partnerships. You can explore how each placement is interpreted in our Venus sign guide.
Calculating where Venus stood in the sky is an astronomical and calendar task, while reading what that placement means belongs to a symbolic tradition. Astrology is an interpretive tradition rather than a scientifically validated method of prediction, and controlled studies have found no scientific evidence that planetary positions determine personality or events. In practice, readers look at natal Venus alongside the rest of their birth chart to reflect on personal tastes, values, and relationship habits rather than to predict guaranteed outcomes or assign relationship scores.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Venus sign in a birth chart?
Your Venus sign is the zodiac sign that the planet Venus occupied from an Earth-centered perspective at the date and time you were born. In astrology, it is traditionally read as a symbol of affection, aesthetic taste, and how you approach partnerships.
Can I calculate my Venus sign without my birth time?
Yes. On most days of the year, Venus remains in the same zodiac sign for the entire local calendar day. If Venus changed signs on your birth date, the calculator checks the full local day and flags that both signs were possible during that 24-hour window rather than claiming a noon estimate is exact.
What is hidden when my birth time is unknown?
When you calculate without a birth time, the tool hides the Ascendant, Midheaven, twelve houses, exact degrees, and planetary aspects because those values shift throughout the day and depend on a known birth hour.
Why might my Venus sign differ on another astrology site?
Differences usually happen when a birth occurred near a sign change and another tool assumed a different time zone offset, ignored daylight saving history, used a silent noon default without checking the full local day, or used a sidereal zodiac instead of the tropical zodiac.
What is free, and why would I sign in?
Calculating your natal Venus, reading the short placement summary, and viewing your full available birth chart are completely free without registration. You only need to sign in if you want to keep your chart in an account beyond the 7-day guest period or start a full subscription on the pricing page.
